Letter from the CEO

Thank you so much for your interest in Help Musicians.

Help Musicians is an extraordinary charity with a unique history. We are now 99 years young and still hard at work, offering a very broad spectrum of help, services and opportunities to support and empower musicians through all stages of their lives.

We are an independent charity which aims to make a meaningful difference to the lives of musicians, offering an integrated programme combining Health and Welfare support and Creative development.

With a head office in London’s Kings Cross and regional offices in Belfast and Glasgow, we continue reaching out to ensure we engage with the music profession right across the UK and amongst all genres of music.

Demand for the charity’s programme of work continues to grow at a rapid rate. In 2018 the charity directly supported a total of 6,958 people through our grant programme, an increase of 39% on the previous year. Record numbers of payments were also made through our Creative and Health and Welfare support – generating a total of 14,245 interactions in 2018.

But we are keen to do more and our centenary year in 2021 provides us with an opportunity to engage more people than ever before in work of Help Musicians. Raising the charity’s profile, building affection with new audiences and continuing to engage our core and loyal supporters will be vital in ensuring Help Musicians grows its fundraising revenue in the coming years.

This new role has a broad remit and we are looking for a candidate who has a broad set of skills and attributes: a confident leader who has a proven track record in driving engagement and raising profile and who is ambitious to make a positive and lasting impact.

The recruitment of a new Head of Engagement will be pivotal in realising our ambition in this important area of the charity’s work and my colleagues and I are excited about the opportunity this new post presents.
